SRI KARUMPALOOR DEVI MAHATMYAM As a great centre of divinity sanctity and prosperity, owing to the powerful Bharadevata rightly we call Paradevatha, Naga raja, Yakshi & Gandharva, the mighty Karumpaloor Tharavadu has always occupied a unique position. This great Tharavadu is situated on the banks of the famous Mamom River at Perakam attached in Idakkodu Village at Chirayinkizhu in Thiruvananthapuram District. This Tharavadu was, and has been a treasure house of knowledge accredited with invaluable palm leaves in large numbers, under the main structure containing comprehensive information regarding the most powerful Manthras and Ayurveda and other subjects, that stand the test of time and brave heavy odds. All the members of the family have been under perfection from the Dharma Daivangal of the Tharavad - Manthramoorthy & Yogeeswaran.
This great Tharavadu once gave birth to towering personalities, men of letters, musicians, artists and wonderful personalities blessed with divine powers and extra ordinary Capabilities. This Tharavadu was once gifted with Karanavars (Family Heads), who strived to take it, to the peaks of excellence. Of them, there were Celibates, who were the embodiment of spiritualism, devotion and piety. They led a life of renunciation discarding all worldly pleasures, at the same time applying themselves to the Bharadevata and Upadevatas and guiding the family members towards virtue, wisdom and prosperity and at the same time reining in wrong-doers and guilty. However all the Karanavars, who were on the throne, from time to time, were bent up on transforming this mighty Tharavadu into a well-knit one and well integrated one.
